I knew I'd seen the Delta somewhere. Just been flicking through some old photo albums and sure enough! This picture was taken over 20 years ago when it was just hitting the road. If I remember rightly, Terry was a school headmaster and lived at Blackwood.

Very similar to the Ikara in execution, the body is just a different sort of ugly.
Engine is North-South not East-West.
I don't see it as ugly at all. The Delta has a pleasing waistline and overall balance. If it were mine, I'd maybe tweek the roof and window lines with a little more curve, but that's about it. I prefer the look of the (earlier?) front on the car when it was red. The rectangular lights look a bit odd now but they were the style at the time.

Well you've set a fine garage there Pete and I would probably have some in mine as well. But to be a bit different I went for some different machinery apart from your last pick where I made my choice from your 3. Aslo your first two choices are givens so I have not put them in. But they are there (in my dreams).

It looks like the Muira and the Mangusta are popular choices. I agree with one of those, not necessarily the other. I guess it was at least 40 years ago I had a drive of a Muira up the Mount Barker Road and back and, not having much to do with "V12 Supercars", I was in love with Lamborghini immediately. It wasn't to last forever. When Chris Clearihan got his Countach and I had so much trouble getting into it, it started to change my mind. When I get back to SA I'll write a post about an Adelaide Muira if somebody reminds me.
Unfortunately, I don't seem to really consider the Mangusta with the same reverence. When we Mitcham kids were just getting into cars, the doctor at the top of Springbank Road, Andy McCombe, who used to race an E-type, and a Cooper S when they came out, had a red Mangusta as his road car. We were suitably impressed, it had a bit of power and made all the right noises. Later, I became acquainted with a black one in Tasmania that was reputed to have Cassius Clay as its first owner. Meanwhile, Ken Messenger started driving a red Mangusta. I'm certain it was Andy's old one. Anyway, I think Ken may back me on this, if I said that despite the power of the Ford V8 and the very interesting van doors on the back, they were a bit rattley and didn't handle all that well. De Tomaso did get it right with the Pantera though.
Peter G has added a daily driver to his list too. "I would select a Tesla Roadster (US electric), if you squint your eyes you could imagine it being a Nagari Targa (70's series)." Funny, I was thinking about an electric car as well. I was looking at this bare Ikara chassis and thinking I could make another one of these and try electric power.
